China attaches great importance to sustainable development and sees the important role of VSS in strengthening sustainable development. As a participant in international trade, we have also found the potential barrier exposed by VSS, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises. Therefore, in response to UNFSS initiative, the Chinese government engage to build Chinese national platform on VSS. The establishment of a national level dialogue platform intends to help UNFSS promote VSS in China and to improve the relevant stakeholders on VSS awareness. The National platform docks with UNFSS and in the meanwhile provides professional information services, industry research and standard comparative analysis, and actively serve enterprises to go out so as to facilitate trades. As the charging departments of the platform, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China (AQSIQ), Ministry of Commerce Of China (MOFCOM), and Standardization Administration of China (SAC) will lead the overall work of the platform, and China Association for Standardization (CAS) will assume the platform of daily work, taking the Secretariat responsiblility for daily operation.
The platform will be officially launched in Qingdao on June 28th, 2017. Meanwhile, the workshop focused on “Opportunities and Challenges Based on Empirical VSS” and the Training Workshop on “Sustainable Trade & Resource Efficiency in Supply Chains in the People's Republic of China” will be held.
